Ladegaard

LADEGAARD is a global supplier of training and development tools with Blended Learning as the method. LADEGAARD has been making a difference to business through staff and management training and development for many years.

LADEGAARD devises company-specific, individual and dedicated development programmes, ranging from very short courses to extended Blended Learning processes.

The programmes cover areas such as management organisation, organisational development, team building, coaching, marketing and sales training.

The results speak for themselves. LADEGAARD supplies development and training solutions to some of the biggest companies and organisations.

One way LADEGAARD does this is by using instructors who have successfully practiced what they preach. None of our instructors are pure theoreticians who have to use other people as examples and references. That kind of instructor lacks credibility.

A large number of Danish companies use LADEGAARD as a ‘sparring partner’ for staff development. To produce first-class results training must be based on the company’s:

Business India
Strategy / Vision
This allows us to forge direct links between the company’s goals and its senior management, middle managers and staff. Training is not an extra sideline. It is firmly imbedded in and integrated into the company’s business planning.

It is best to wash a flight of steps from the top down, so co-operation with LADEGAARD typically looks like this:

Definition of training goals

What are they capable of now and what should they be capable of when the training is over?
Defining ambitious new sales goals with the solid backing of top management
Training managers responsible for sales people and staff.

C. The learning method: Blended Learning
Blended Learning with The LADEGAARD System
Many consultancies offer their customers Blended Learning. Usually what they mean is e-learning and classroom training. With The LADEGAARD System you get a real blend of learning methods ensuring results you can measure.
Blended Learning is learning which combines different learning methods, uses a wide range of technologies and mixes classroom training with web-based training.
With Blended Learning, companies can make use of different technologies and activities to create an optimal training program. And individual participants can train when it suits them using the training methods they prefer.
A sales course based on Blended Learning is a structured process where you alternate between theory, training and practice, integrating what you have learned in your work routine.

From event to process with results that last
Blended Learning combines different learning methods in order to ensure that training, development and assessment become an on-going process.
With Blended Learning companies and their employees work together on creating results. Employees can choose between different learning methods and feel responsible for their own training. Managers are able to follow-up on training and ensure that their employees are moving in the right direction.
Managers and sales and service people can train when it suits them using the learning methods they prefer. Training is supervised through a Learning Manager ensuring that everyone does his or her homework. This means that your customers achieve the optimal results in the most cost effective way. This means that we move from isolated classes to learning processes with consequences. Our system provides companies with results they can measure and continue to improve. The LADEGAARD System provides companies with results they can measure and continue to improve. In other words we move from isolated classes to learning processes with results that last. As the Learning curve shows, traditional classroom training is often forgotten as soon as the course is over. With Blended Learning, your employees continue to develop.

Mitsubishi
Certification of salespeople and customer service employees using Blended Learning
Competent, well qualified employees are important in all lines of business. You must know the trade. However, knowledge is not worth much if you are not able to translate it into selling behavior in your daily interaction with customers.
Mitsubishi Europe made an ambitious demand of all their European dealers in 2008: If you wish to continue to deal in Mitsubishi, you must commit to training at least one sales consultant and one service consultant before the end of the year.
The program was planned as a common European standard which everyone in must live up to in order to become a "Certified MME Sales Advisor".
On the basis of this decision Mitsubishi decided to work with Blended Learning and the LADEGAARD system in order to ensure the optimal training for a considerable period of time.

A Blended Learning process was prepared where the sales consultant and service consultant trained according to the most effective methods.

The basis of the training was The Key to Successful Selling, which meant that each participant could train with:
Classroom training with LADEGAARD A/S.
E-learning at www.successfulselling.info including a number of tests.
In addition, a special certification test was prepared which each individual participant had to pass between the course days.
The whole learning process was tied together with a Learning Manager, which meant that Management at Mitsubishi could supervise the development of each employee.
In this way Mitsubishi ensured that certification became a process with consequences.

Financially attractive method
There is no mistaking the results of the effort:
"Blended Learning provided us with a carefully prepared process where the individual dealers have been certified, and we have been able to follow their progress. Furthermore, I won’t conceal the fact that Blended Learning is a financially attractive method, because the participants can train online when it suits them and do not have to take too much time off to attend classroom training." says John Wulff, who is Sales Manager of Mitsubishi in Denmark.

ISS
Blended Learning provides ISS with aditional sales
ISS in Denmark has gained significant results from an ambitious effort to develop the group’s many employees.
The training in ISS combines the best of traditional classroom training with the establishment of a comprehensive e-learning academy – a so-called Blended Learning process.
The target group is ISS’s 16,000 employees in Denmark. The results can be measured and are very significant.

The situation
Competent and motivated employees are the biggest assets of a company. At ISS Denmark the best salespeople are often the many service employees who are out performing duties for customers every single day.

The solution
In order to develop 900 service managers right now and about 16,000 Danish employees in the long term ISS invested in a training solution which combines the best of traditional courses with e-learning.
In co-operation with LADEGAARD A/S, ISS launched an integrated training process where all participants go through both a number of seminars and intensive follow-up on the Internet over a period of 6-7 months.
The first participants – the managers – train in additional sales to existing customers. This requires two modules – One in sales knowledge and one in knowledge about all the products in ISS’ integrated service system. A manager in the cleaning department must also have a keen eye for the customers’ needs for facility service and furthermore be able to sell it.

E-learning must not stand alone

E-learning is sometimes presented as an alternative to traditional courses. ISS has chosen to invest in a combination. The first part of the academy is a traditional two day classroom course as well as an introduction to e-learning. Then the managers work on their own via e-learning.

The combination of the two learning methods is important. E-learning must not stand alone. E-learning should be used a continuation in order to maintain focus long after the course. The employees at ISS have adopted the method with great enthusiasm because their new tools mean that they themselves can take responsibility for their own development.

Working with different learning methods in Blended Learning makes it possible to create personalized and dynamic learning on the Internet compared to training by cd-rom or something similar. At the same time the management in ISS is able to supervise the training. That means focus and significant results.

"Financially the investment has already been repaid manifold via additional sales. Moreover the entire level of knowledge about the business is growing in our organization. We have now established a motorway where the sales academy is the first by-way. We now have the structure and if we make the right by-ways with new courses, we suddenly have completely new ways of educating large groups of our employees with Blended Learning,"says Carsten Dahl, who is head of the training division in ISS Denmark.

Carlsberg
Carlsberg: Blended Learning is the way to go!

There is no doubt that Blended Learning is the way to go for many companies. The combination of the different tools makes it flexible to use, while at the same time you as a manager have really good ways to follow up on the training your team is doing.

Without a doubt, the following three things will be improved in any company that chooses to implement Blended Learning:
Standardization of educational tools
Will ensure greater effectiveness and speed, which will provide better utilization of the expenses the company pays for education.

Increased employee satisfaction
Carlsberg is convinced that increased employee satisfaction is connected to increased turnover / better earnings. When the Carlsberg Group compares employee satisfaction with company profits between the different countries, a distinct picture appears. For this reason it is very important to create a culture of winners at Carlsberg.

Increased customer satisfaction
Customers appreciate that you get to know their business and can discuss how they can improve their sales. The DiSC profile in combination with work on how to deal with objections has without a doubt provided Carlsberg with good results in terms of getting a better and more professional dialogue with our customers.
All three KPI's have been fulfilled at Carlsberg On Trade efter the implementation of Blended Learning.

How the co-operation started
In 2006 when Carlsberg wished to train their phone salespeople in sales technique they chose LADEGAARD A/S as their partner. This co-operation with targeted training of Carlsberg’s employees has existed ever since.
The objective of the training was to provide the participants with a tool tailored to help them prepare in the best possible way for the sales call so they can ask the right questions and argue in favour of the different products, thereby differentiating work in the different segments and ultimately increasing sales.

Scope
120 Carlsberg employees were trained during the course of a year.

Layout
The Carlsberg solution took its starting point in the LADEGAARD system ‘The Key to Successful Selling’, which the layout came from. The solution was customized with a Carlsberg logo which was repeated on all pages.
The e-learning modules were constructed as a classical web site with a search function and a dropdown menu at the top of every page. Under the menu ‘your training’ the users could find the nine lessons they were to take. Each lesson consisted of articles, video clips as well as downloads to be studied before the users could take the final tests belonging to each lesson.
With the ‘Statistics’ function at the bottom of the page, Sales Managers could see which sales people trained online, when they trained, how often they trained and what results they achieved.

Design
As mentioned, the whole education was carried out with the LADEGAARD Blended Learning system using ‘The Key to Successful Selling’. In the Carlsberg solution the following elements were blended:
Kick off in the form of a peptalk.
DiSC personal profile completed online.
Training of inhouse Carlsberg coaches.
5 days of classroom training done ‘on location’ at Carlsberg.
‘The Key to Successful Selling’ (book, online training, video and audio clips, cd).
Learning Manager, which means that the Sales Managers can see who is training, when they are training and what results they have achieved at www.successfulselling.info

The training was a great success, and the increase in sales could be measured. An extra bonus was that the phone salespeople continued to train online even though the actual training process with LADEGAARD A/S had come to an end.
As a long term effect, online sales training has become an everyday tool for the phone salespeople at Carlsberg.

Expert
Blended Learning at Expert
These years the specialized retail trade is experiencing a keenly increased competition from very price conscious players.
But fortunately there are other parameters than just price for the retail trade. Not least it is a great challenge to ensure that the average purchase per customer increases.
This requires skilled employees who know the products and know how to sell them to the customers. For this reason training is a very important parameter for a big retail chain such as Expert. And it is just as important to ensure that the training is as effective as possible.
The aim of Expert’s training is that the employees in the chain shall continue to develop – both professionally and in terms of sales. Ultimately the training shall lead to more satisfied customers and employees and increased sales.
For this reason Expert chose to enter into a co-operation with LADEGAARD A/S in three areas:
1.
Carrying out professional courses with experienced trainers who have done it themselves with success.
2.
Working with effective learning in the form of Blended Learning on a tried and tested platform.
3.
Administration and development of all courses.

By "blending" the courses with e-learning Expert will get a real opportunity to make use of the many possibilities the new technology provides. In practice this means that tests, lessons and a great deal of the case training can be done as e-learning "at home". The participants then bring the results with them to the classroom training where they form the background of dialogue and training.

This means that time is spent in the best way possible in the class room. Time is spent on direct training and sparring with the trainer – not on preparation and lectures. After the course all the results are gathered up for the further training by e-learning.

With the web platform Expert automatically gains access to a customized Learning Manager where Expert can supervise all employees: Who is training, how far have they got, and most importantly how are they doing?

These questions are relevant to answer when it is a question of where there is a need for further training. Perhaps some employees are good at product knowledge, while others have a hard time dealing with the customers’ objections.

With the Learning Manager Expert will get the best possible tool to ensure that learning becomes an integral part of daily life for each individual employee – and to follow up on the results.

"Our success as a chain is inseparably bound up with the performance of our employees in their daily contact with our customers. We are pleased that we are using the most up to date methods in our training – and that the content is spot-on", says John Birkmose-Andersen, who is CEO of Expert in Denmark.

Tschudi Shipping Company
Tschudi Shipping Company creates a joint point of departure with The Key to Successful Selling.

Tschudi Shipping Company is an international shipping company with logistics activities in Norway, Finland, Estland and Holland.
The company wishes to bring together and strengthen its organisation and to give its salespeople a joint point of departure for their development and training.
Tschudi Shipping Company wants to create a strong corporate culture with clear values where the employees have a common corporate understanding and strategy as a means to creating greater synergy between employees and departments in different countries.
The company’s salespeople have different cultural and educational backgrounds, and that has created a need for establishing a homogeneous and more professional sales education which will make the salespeople even better at working in a systematic and structured way with customers and sales.
That’s why Tschudi Shipping Company was on the lookout for a modular education which would continually provide different options. The employees should be able to develop over time and not just go on isolated courses. This also means that it should be easy to update new employees right from the start, so everyone works from the same platform.
To accomplish the task, Tschudi Shipping Company has decided to use The Key to Successful Selling from LADEGAARD A/S. Tschudi Shipping Company has chosen a Blended Learning model combining individual training in different modules with training on courses with an instructor 5 x 2 days.

Søren Andersen, commercial director in Tschudi Shipping Company, says:
"To Tschudi Shipping Company, the process is first and foremost about developing professionally in sales, but it is also about team building, where the individual employees from many different countries and with different backgrounds get together. In our view, creating team spirit among salespeople in different countries as well as getting a joint point of departure is very valuable. We wanted a system that brings together training and makes it a continuous process. The solution from LADEGAARD A/S was in keeping with what we wanted to do, and we are looking forward to getting started."
